Home > Press > Funding competition for central key research facilities, 2007-2013 - NanoQuébec invites the research community to apply
Abstract:
NanoQuébec is proud to announce the launch of a new funding program for central key research facilities. This infrastructure support program is intended to ensure the availability and
accessibility of leading-edge infrastructure for the entire research and industrial community.
The increased use of such infrastructure, particularly for industrial
R&D, is a fundamental goal. Because of their multidisciplinary and
multisectoral nature, nanoscience and nanotechnology require - more than any
other major targeted initiative to emerge in Quebec in recent years - open
access to very high calibre infrastructure for both the scientific and
industrial communities.
The program has an envelope of $10 million for the next three years,
contingent on the availability of funds. Starting October 1, 2007, the program
will support the selected research facilities for six years (2007-2013). The
competition opens officially on March 30, 2007.
A selection committee composed of four international experts, including
three scientists and one industry representative, plus one representative each
from a funding body and NanoQuébec, will conduct the competition until the
NanoQuébec board of directors announces the successful applicants in late
September, 2007.
NanoQuébec invites all key research facilities, whether based in
universities, colleges or hospitals, to apply. The research community has
until May 1, 2007 to submit letters of intent using the form available at
http://www.nanoquebec.ca .
