The Industry Forum On Printed Electronics (IFOPE) announced today that Peter Balbus, Managing Director of Pragmaxis, LLC and President Emeritus of the M.I.T. Enterprise Forum of Chicago will host its inaugural conference on April 24, 2007 in Chicago. He will also chair a panel discussion focusing on the future possibilities for printed electronics. Balbus is a recognized expert on technology commercialization with an emphasis on products derived from advances in nanotechnology. He graduated from M.I.T. with a degree in Chemical Engineer and completed the Executive Program in Corporate Strategy at The University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. He has more than 25 years of business and technology experience.
Balbus is no stranger to creating, managing and hosting successful public events. For two years, he served as Chairman and President of the M.I.T. Enterprise Forum of Chicago, a professional organization dedicated to promoting business and technology innovation in the greater Chicago area. During his tenure he created and hosted nearly 20 events, drawing a combined audience of more than 2,000 attendees. He served as Chairman of the Alan G. MacDiarmid Energy Summit at NanoTX'06 in September 2006 and will be reprising that role for NanoTX'07 being held in Dallas October 2-4, 2007. Balbus also served as host of "The Information Age", a television program that showcased emerging technologies and their financial implications and was broadcast by the Financial News Network (now CNN-fn).
According to IFOPE Executive Producer Ray Pimentel, Vice Consul (Trade & Investment) at the British Consulate-General in Chicago, "We are very pleased to have Peter Balbus on board as our conference host and panel chair. He will bring a unique blend of knowledge, perspective, energy and humor to this conference."
IFOPE will feature a world-class line-up of international speakers from commercial and academic innovators in thin film, organic, and printable electronics. The audience will include senior executives from a broad range of industries being transformed by these rapidly advancing micro- and nanotechnology developments, including aerospace, chemicals, consumer goods, electronics, food & beverage, medical devices, packaging and semiconductors. Corporate and institutional venture capital executives will also be present.
Organized by founding partners, UK Trade & Investment, the North of England Inward Investment Agency, and Cenamps, IFOPE is a British-American initiative designed to foster international collaboration in technology advancements and commercialization.
