Home > Press > Houston Technology Center Names Walter Ulrich as New CEO and President
Abstract:
Houston Technology Center (HTC), an organization that assists in the acceleration and commercialization of area emerging technology companies, recently announced that Walter Ulrich has been elected as President and CEO.
"Under Paul's dedicated leadership, Houston Technology Center's Clients and Graduates contributed more than $225 million a year into the regional and local economy," states Ulrich. "Our vision for the next five years is to increase the level of services to all our current Clients and boost the total number of Clients we serve. Implementation of this plan will more than double the economic impact on the Greater Houston area to well over $500 million per year."
Ulrich has most recently been involved with the Texas Emerging Technology Fund, where he is one of the 17 original members of Governor Perry's Emerging Technology Fund Committee. Ulrich previously held the title of President and CEO of Mincron, Inc., a 25-year-old software and solutions provider based in Houston. At Mincron, Ulrich helped the company achieve a significant business turnaround by revitalizing the distribution software business and implementing critical technology initiatives. Additional titles held in the past include Managing Director with Houston-based Viant, where he was responsible for regional and practice strategies, tactics and operations. Ulrich was also a Vice President and Senior Director at Arthur D. Little and a Partner with Coopers & Lybrand; both are international management consulting companies.
Paul Frison, who has held the title of CEO and President since its inception in 1999, has been instrumental in the growth and development of Houston Technology Center. As Executive Vice Chairman, Frison will continue to have an active role in attracting technology companies to become tenants in its recently expanded facility, and will direct and promote HTC's major events, including the HTC Gala, "A Celebration of Entrepreneurs," in May and the annual Houston Technology Showcase in the fall.
"In his role as CEO and President, Walter will be a catalyst for the future growth of the HTC," says Frison. "I am looking forward to working with him to achieve our business objectives over the next few years."
