Region awarded $500,000 economic grant
Abstract:
The North Alabama and southern Tennessee region is one of 13 areas in the country that will receive a grant for economic development from the U.S. Department of Labor.
The initial award is for $500,000. Each region will have six months to complete its plans for economic growth and become eligible for $4.5 million during the next three years.
Cape said plans call for developing career pathways to support six high-growth job categories in the region: advanced manufacturing, aerospace, agriculture, automotive, biotech/nanotech/IT and health services.
