Why Albuquerque's mayor loves those 'best of' lists
Abstract:
Take the case of Lux Research, a New York consulting firm that in early 2005 ranked New Mexico as the fifth most promising state for spurring economic development with nanotechnology.
The basic list is available to everyone, but for the detailed intelligence on the top state's nanotechnology situation - something companies in or near the field are likely to want - you'll have to pony up some cash.
"(Companies) look to these sort of reports when they're making decisions," said Michael Holman, a Lux Research senior analyst.
