A Bit of Lateral Thinking
Abstract:
Chris Phoenix: The fact that we don't know exactly how to do it yet does not mean that a nanofactory is impossible to build, any more than Coral Castle required antigravity. It will just take is a bit of lateral thinking, starting with the use of molecules and molecular systems that can be analyzed piecemeal and tweaked at any point in the design process -- molecules that are not monolithic and analytically "un-cuttable" as biological proteins and processes seem to be. And, of course, like Coral Castle, it will take a lot of work.
