IEST Fall Conference 2006 Registration
Rolling Meadows, IL | Posted on October 08, 2006
Join the Institute of Environmental
Sciences and Technology (IEST) for its annual Fall Conference, November 5-8,
2006 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Hoffman Estates, Illinois (near Chicago
O'Hare International Airport). The Fall Conference will feature
contamination control working group meetings, as well as a variety of
tutorial classes covering issues related to cleanrooms and controlled
environments.
New this year is a tutorial titled Applying Risk Management to Contamination
Control. The course will focus on the three risk assessment methods - Fault
Tree; Failure Modes and Effect Analysis; and Fishbone. Case studies for
industrial cleanrooms will be presented and the class will apply these
methods to contamination issues. Anne Marie Dixon, IEST Fellow and Chair of
the United States Technical Advisory Group (US TAG) to ISO Technical
Committee (TC) 209, will be the instructor.
Do not miss out on Nanotechnology Facility Design: The Next Generation of
Cleanrooms. This class will be taught by the manager of the new Birck
Nanotechnology Center at Purdue University, John Weaver. The tutorial will
focus on the basics of planning and design of these highly complex
facilities. It will also guide those involved in these processes around many
of the pitfalls that can make a facility either less effective or more
expensive to build and operate. The design of nanotechnology facilities
embodies many cleanroom concepts that have evolved over the past 40 years.
In addition, an ISO Test Methods Certificate Program consisting of three
tutorials will be offered: Understanding the ISO 14644 Series; Testing to
Determine the Classification of Air Cleanliness; and Testing Cleanroom
Performance Using ISO 14644-3. These classes are offered as stand-alone
tutorials as well. Robert Mielke, IEST Fellow and Secretary for ISO
Technical Committee 209, Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments,
is the instructor.
Tutorial, working group, and registration information is available at www.iest.org/fallconference/fallconference.html. More information
about IEST can be found at www.iest.org, or by calling (847) 255-1561.
About the Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST):
Founded in 1953, IEST is an international technical society of engineers, scientists, and educators that serves its members and the industries they represent (simulating, testing, controlling, and teaching the environments of earth and space) through education and the development of recommended practices and standards.
IEST is an ANSI-accredited standards-developing organization; Secretariat of ISO/TC 209 Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments; Administrator of the ANSI-accredited US TAG to ISO/TC 209; and a founding member of the ANSI-accredited US TAG to ISO/TC 229 Nanotechnologies.
