Abstract:
First ever international business-partnering event for European nanotech industry
UK Nanoforum 2006 is now open to delegate registration and UK Trade & Investment is inviting all businesses within the nanotechnology sector to attend the event on 24 October.
In conjunction with the UK Micro and Nanotechnology Network, UK Trade and Investment has been instrumental in developing and organising UK Nanoforum 2006, the first ever partnering event for the UK nanotechnology community.
Over 50 international delegates will attend the event at the Riverbank Park Plaza, representing nanotech businesses, R&D centres, venture capitalists, technology buyers and those seeking to develop joint ventures.
These visitors, sourced and invited by UKTI staff overseas, will come face-to-face with 150 of the very best UK nanotechnology companies during a structured day, including a seminar, workshops and networking.
The networking and exhibition event is designed to promote the burgeoning UK nanotechnology sector, and to provide a launch-pad for new business partnerships.
All delegates will benefit from access to UK Micro and Nanotechnology Network and UK Trade & Investment business support, as well as to all seminars and networking sessions, including workshops to explore the commercial opportunities of nanotechnology in areas such as nanomedicine and nanomaterials.
The latest UK developments will be showcased by presentations from UK Micro and Nanotechnology Network director, Professor Hugh Clare, GSK, 3i, Oxonica and Professor Welland.
Other speakers include CEO of Oxonica Dr Kevin Matthews, GlaxoSmithKline VP of Technology Development UK David Tapolczay and Dr Brian Hargreaves, Sector Partner 3i.
UK Trade & Investment Chief Executive Andrew Cahn commented: “This partnering event is the first of its kind in the UK market and is a sign of the growing maturity of the nanotechnology sector here. The UK is already leading the pack in terms of bringing new nanotechnologies to market, many of which are products of highly successful international business partnerships boosted by government support. We hope that UK Nanoforum 2006 will generate many more lasting and successful joint ventures.”
Micro and Nanotechnology Network Associate Director Julie Deacon commented: "We are experiencing strong international interest in UK nanotechnology. This has been catalysed by DTI and regional infrastructure investment and significantly strengthened by the innovation activities of the MNT network. The MNT Network has brought together the full value chain, from technology providers to players in established market sectors, focusing on key opportunities such as those in healthcare and nanomaterials."
