Glowing Nanowires Forged with Molecular Beam Epitaxy
Abstract:
The flurry of research activity in the nanotechnology arena has spawned a slew of potential device structures, such as nano-belts, ribbons, and rods. Included in this group are nanowires. As with its nano-scale brethren, nanowire research remains very much a part of the experimental world with their fabrication/analysis occurring primarily within academic and government labs. At the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Golden, Colo., facility, researchers have recently reported on a new series of experimental results on nanowire performance/growth, one that supports their possible inclusion in real-world devices.
