KnowmTech Announces Issued Patent On Key Nanotechnolog

Posted on February 17, 2006

KnowmTech, LLC of Albuquerque, NM, today announced the issuance of U.S. Patent No. 6,995,649 (the '649 patent) entitled "Variable Resistor Apparatus Formed Utilizing Nanotechnology," by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office on February 7, 2006. KnowmTech, LLC has developed an extensive patent portfolio for the construction of adaptive nanoelectronic devices and neural network computational systems.

The ‘649 patent relates to a variable resistor apparatus configured from a grouping of nanoparticles disposed between two terminals. The nanoparticles provide an electrical resistance. An electric field can be applied to the nanoparticles across the two terminals, resulting in an alignment of the nanoparticles over time and a decrease in the electrical resistance, thereby forming an adaptive resistor on the surface of an integrated chip.

The technology described in this patent is fundamental for developing highly integrated adaptive nanoelectronic systems.
