Institute of Nanotechnology Launches New Website to Report on Nanotech Developments in China and the Far East

Posted on February 06, 2006

The UK-based Institute of Nanotechnology (IoN) today celebrated the Chinese New Year by launching its bi-lingual NanoChina.cn project (www.nanochina.cn), the latest addition to its growing portfolio of leading-edge nanotech websites.

Published both in English and Chinese, NanoChina will act as a bridge between the nanotechnology sectors in China and the rest of the world. In particular, the website will focus on fostering trade relationships between nanotech companies in China and business organisations in the West.

NanoChina will provide all the latest news about the nanotechnology developments that are taking place in China and in the rest of the world. The site will also offer nano reports, a list of nano events, translating services, a free newsletter, advertising services, free associate membership and a unique nano-business match-making venture.

Ottilia Saxl, CEO of the IoN, said "The Institute closely follows the science and technology scene in China and the Far East, as demonstrated by the very popular reports that we have published about nanotechnology developments in China and other Asian countries. So NanoChina.cn is the next logical step in tapping in to the demand that we know already exists in these countries for quality information about nanotechnology matters."

She further commented "The Institute is very excited by NanoChina to pioneer the nanotech market in China. We appreciate that China is potentially the biggest market in the world, with 120 million people now using the web regularly. All in all, NanoChina is a very exciting step for us that we believe will be very successful."

Heading the NanoChina team and directing the project in China is Tong Huan Wang. Based in China's third city of Tianjing (about 120 kms south-east of Beijing), Tong has worked in the nanotechnology sector for over two years as an employee of the Institute of Nanotechnology in Scotland, where she established many contacts amongst China's expanding nano-businesses.

In the UK, the NanoChina team will be headed by Grant Millar, who is based at the IoN's office in Stirling, Scotland. Grant has a background in editing and has worked for the last six months on acquiring content and articles for the NanoChina website.
