Nanoscale toxicology: lessons from drug delivery - 27th February 2006
Posted on January 27, 2006
FINAL CALL FOR PAPERS
Nanotechnology is having an increasingly significant impact in drug delivery, for example through increases in drug absorption, and the development of novel sustained release devices. From a wider perspective the use of nanoengineered materials and particulates has raised health, safety and environmental concerns. Now is clearly an opportune time to consider what lessons may be learnt from nanoscale drug delivery research to date so as to negate potential future adverse effects and to fully exploit the wide ranging possibilities of nanotechnology.
With this in mind the meeting will give particular consideration as to how drug delivery studies could help in the development of generic rules and paradigms of toxicology. The meeting is aimed at academics and industrialists with interests in drug delivery toxicology and environmental sciences. It will also be of relevance to policy makers, NGOs and consumer groups.
A number of internationally recognized experts will draw on their experiences in drug delivery, nanotechnology and toxicology to provide a coordinated insight into the developing field of nanotoxicology.
Speakers include:
The meeting will be held at The Thistle Hotel, Buckingham Palace Road, London, SW1W 0SJ
