Tiny and from the future
Abstract:
The rotor on Josef Michl's computer screen appears to be made of glued-together beachballs of varying colors and sizes. It doesn't rotate as much as dance with each half-spin of its tiny paddle wheel.
The University of Colorado chemistry professor hopes that legions of such rotors will one day shrink cell phones and revolutionize liquid-crystal displays like the computer screen displaying his simulated rotor.
