Journal of the IEST Goes Online in October

September 30, 2005

The Institute of Environmental Sciences and Technology (IEST) is pleased to announce that the annual Journal of the IEST will be available exclusively online beginning in October 2005.

This marks a new era in Journal history! The new format will offer an expansive search feature and user-customizable settings. Journal subscribers and IEST members will have access to newly published peer-reviewed technical papers and Tech Talk technical articles containing the latest resource information for the environmental sciences community. The new online Journal will also include access to all technical papers published in the previous ten years. In addition to searchable, downloadable files, readers who register at the site will be able to request auto-notification when papers in their area of expertise are posted, save search criteria, and tag favorite publications. Web searches by the worldwide technical community will lead to Journal of the IEST published works. Those who are not IEST subscribers or members will have access to Tech Talk articles, full-text abstracts, and basic information on technical papers, and will have the option to subscribe, join IEST, or purchase individual, complete papers.

The Journal of the IEST technical papers are peer-reviewed by Technical Editors and highly qualified peer reviewers. Tech Talk articles share practical, “hands on” experiences with cost-cutting measures, industry trends, experimental approaches, summaries of standards, unique facilities, and applications of instrumentation and new technology.

For over 45 years, the Journal of the IEST has been the premier provider of technical information published in a quality format for professionals in the environmental sciences. The Journal contains technical information on simulation, testing, control, current research, and teaching of environmental sciences and technologies. The editorial content covers: nanotechnology, contamination control, environmental laboratory and field testing and evaluation, reliability assessment and evaluation methods, environmental instrumentation and measurements, environmental effects, environmental and safety standards, and computer applications.

Founded in 1953, IEST is an international technical society of engineers, scientists, and educators that serves its members and the industries they represent (simulating, testing, controlling, and teaching the environments of earth and space) through education and the development of recommended practices and standards.

IEST is an ANSI-accredited standards-developing organization; Secretariat of ISO/TC 209 Cleanrooms and associated controlled environments; Administrator of the ANSI-accredited US TAG to ISO/TC 209; and a founding member of the ANSI-accredited US TAG to ISO/TC 229 Nanotechnologies. More information is available online at www.iest.org or by calling IEST at (847) 255-1561.
