Tulsa Couple Pledges $9 Million
Abstract:
Walter Helmerich is a wealthy man, but when Oklahoma State University asked him and his wife for $9 million to outfit a state-of-the-art research lab in Tulsa, "I almost fainted," he said.
The Helmerichs' gift will enable the campus to draw proven "world class" researchers to expand the university's work in the fields of sensors and nanotechnology, said Oklahoma State President David Schmidly.
