Appointment of New Director General for NanoQuébec

Montreal | September 22, 2005

Mr. Jean Gaulin, Chairman of NanoQuébec's Board of Directors, announced the appointment of Mr. Robert Nault as Director General. The appointment of Mr. Nault takes effective from Monday, September 12th.

The appointment of Mr. Nault is in line with priorities established by the Board of Directors in the framework of NanoQuébec's strategic plan. He will be supported in his duties by members of the Board of Directors and its committees, namely the University Liaison Council and the Scientific Affairs Committee.

Mr. Gaulin confirmed the enhanced involvement that this will demand from members of Board. "Board members are enthusiastic in increasing their involvement by supporting Robert in his new duties, another clear indication of their belief in the importance of nanotechnology to the economy of Québec and of Canada."

A member of the NanoQuébec Board of Directors since 2003 and President of Marketech, a consulting firm focused on the integration of new technologies into corporate plans, Mr. Nault has developed a remarkable industrial expertise which he will bring to the advantage of NanoQuébec.

In accepting the position, Mr. Nault committed himself to build on the excellent base that has been established by the NanoQuébec team since the creation of their corporation in 2001. "I am very honoured to accept this post, Mr. Nault emphasized. Nanotechnology presents an unprecedented economic opportunity for Québec. I am firmly convinced that NanoQuébec has a big contribution to offer in realising this potential through multiplying the benefits the SME community in nanotechnology bring as well as the major role our large multinational firms must play. I also recognize that this can only be achieved if we collaborate closely with the nanotechnology research community in Québec and the enormous strengths this brings into play."

Clive Willis, the outgoing Director General, will maintain his collaboration with the NanoQuébec team. Mr. Nault and Dr. Willis will be assisted in their duties by Mr. Sylvain Cofsky, Director Innovation and Corporate Affairs and by Ms. Hélène Tellier, Coordinator, Communications and Information.
