Dr. David Lemberg
Host - Science and Society
San Diego, CA | August 29, 2005
Dr. David Lemberg, Executive Producer of "Science and Society" - http://www.scienceandsociety.net - announces the show schedule for Wednesday, 8/31/05, 1PM to 2PM Pacific.
Of particular interest to Nanotechnology Now readers are interviews with:
- Dr. Ryne Raffaelle.
Dr. Ryne Raffaelle is Professor of Physics and Microsystems Engineering, and Director, NanoPower Research Laboratories (NPRL), at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), where he develops new materials and devices for power generation and storage for microelectronic components and micro-electromechanical systems.
Dr. Raffaelle has identified NanoPower technology as a key enabler of future microsystems applications for space, consumer, health, military, and intelligence. These high specific power density (power per mass) supplies are a critical component for everything from autonomous homeland security sensors to next-generation biomedical implants.
- Brian Rice.
Brian Rice is the group leader for Polymers, Nanocomposites, and Composites, a new group within the Nonmetallic Materials division at the University of Dayton Research Institute.
(The group) Researchers in Polymers, Nanocomposites, and Composites, conducts research on advanced monomer and polymer systems, as well as on novel polymer processing methods. Among the areas of current interest are synthesis and characterization of high-performance polymers for aerospace and industrial applications, heterogeneous nanophase polymer systems, polymer nanocomposites, and electron beam processing of polymers and composites. The group operates two unique facilities for nanocomposite processing and electron beam curing, as well as a well-equipped thermal analysis laboratory and polymer synthesis lab.
