Ohio looks to nano for economic boost
Abstract:
Researchers in Ohio believe the region has its best hope of generating new jobs through nanotechnology.
Nanocomposite materials can have properties that make them ideal for making everything from tiny probes that can spot very early forms of cancer to automobile and jet engine parts that can operate at higher temperatures and with greater fuel efficiency. Ohio's $49 billion polymer industry is counting on nanotechnology for the edge it needs to become the world's leader in producing the latest plastics, fibers and composite materials for the aerospace, automotive, biomedical, electronics and consumer products fields.
