Researchers and universities welcome news of more R&D funding
Abstract:
Research institutes and the universities have welcomed the news that research and development funding will be increased to S$12 billion over the next 5 years.
Professor Jackie Yi-Ru Ying, Executive Director, Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology, said: "There has been a lot of research advances with the availability of this funding. For example we have developed contact lenses that will help us deliver drugs to the eyes such as glaucoma and antibiotic medication in a way that's very different from conventional eyedrops. This will allow us to have sustained delivery that will be more effective in treating eye diseases."
