A ski jacket material for frost and flames

Abstract:
Michael Kanellos: The Northborough, Mass.-based company (Aspen Aerogels) has found a way to mass produce aerogels, one of the most effective - but also finicky - insulating materials in the industrial world. Aerogels are essentially blankets of air.

An IPO could come in the next two years, according to Lux Research, which tracks the nanotechnology industry. In May, Aspen landed $50 million in a series D round of venture funding.
