Highway bill bankrolls Tennessee transit of all types
Abstract:
The University of Tennessee-Knoxville would get $20 million for a Joint Institute for Advanced Materials to be shared with Oak Ridge National Laboratory — about half of what the institute is expected to cost.
"It comes through transportation because the center has a clear mission for transportation," said UT-Knoxville Chancellor Loren Crabtree. "It will deal with nanotechnology research related particularly to safety issues and new materials that can be used in a variety of transportation modes — from automobiles through aircraft."
