$60M sought for UMass Lowell research center
Abstract:
UMass Lowell officials and the local legislative delegation yesterday pitched to a high-ranking member of the House a $60 million center for biotechnology and nanotechnology research and manufacturing.
The proposal, which would be funded half by the state and half by the university, dwarfs the $21 million center that Gov. Mitt Romney has endorsed. That plan would have been limited to nanotechnology research only.
