  • Dr. Enrique V. Barrera, Professor and Chair, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, Rice University

    His research focus is on the processing and development of nanocomposite/hybrids and nanotube systems. Dr. Barrera has presented over 140 presentations (75 invited) and organized 15 conferences, symposia, and workshops in the areas of composites and nanotechnology. He has published 120 journal papers, proceedings, edited books, and chapters in books, and has nine patents submitted in nanomaterials development with many licensed for technological development. Dr. Barrera is the Associate Director and Thrust Leader for the Functionalized Nanomaterials Thrust of the Texas Institute for Intelligent Materials and Structures (a NASA University Research Education Technology Institute). He is co-Director of the Rice Functionalization Team and has founded and is Chief Technical Officer of NanoRidge Materials, Inc., a nanotechology company based in Houston, TX.
