Raymor Industries will be present at the 2005 Nanotechnology for Defense conference in Washington
July 20, 2005
Raymor Industries Inc. (TSX-V: RAR) is proud to announce that it will be present
at the 2005 Nanotechnology for Defense conference, to be held from July 25th to July 27th, 2005, in Washington
DC. This conference aims to accelerate the use of nanotechnology in military applications such as solar panels,
coatings, batteries, electronics, sensors, and artificial muscles. This conference will allow Raymor to build
business relationships with the US Military.
“The military sector is an important market for the use of our very high quality single-walled carbon nanotubes
(C-SWNT), which will be produced at more than 10,000 grams/day this fall,” explains Dr. Frédéric Larouche, coinventor
of Raymor’s single-walled carbon nanotubes (C-SWNT) production process.
“Our technology, which uses plasma for the production of single-walled carbon nanotubes (C-SWNT), allows for a
much higher production capacity than any other currently existing technology,” said Dr. Olivier Smiljanic, coinventor
of the process.
“Our production costs are much lower than all the other existing technologies,” adds Dr. Larouche.
The need to utilize nanotechnology is immediate, given that besides the military market, a recent study indicates
that 25 of the 30 companies on the Dow Jones Industrial Average Index (NYSE: DJI) are currently developing
products using nanotechnology. As well, many of these companies will have a significant need for single-walled
carbon nanotubes (C-SWNT) at the commercialization phase of these products.
According to BCC Research, the carbon nanotubes market will grow to US$232 million in 2006, and will
experience an average annual growth of 173% over the next 5 years to reach US$35 billion. According to Lux
Research, the nanotechnology industry may represent a market of US$2,600 billion within 10 years.
About Raymor Industries Inc.:
(TSX-V:RAR) has as its mission to become the leading Canadian developer of high technology and a
producer/recycler of advanced materials and nanomaterials for high value-added applications. In November 2004, Raymor Industries created
a wholly-owned, industrial subsidiary, AP&C Advanced Powders and Coatings, specializing in nanotechnology and advanced materials, and
comprising four operational divisions: (1) nanotechnology products, including nano-powders, nano-coatings, and single-walled carbon
nanotubes (C-SWNT) for “the applications of tomorrow”; (2) metal and ceramic coatings, which largely targets military, aeronautical,
aerospace, specialized industrial, and mining applications; (3) spherical metallic powders, primarily used for biomedical and aerospace
applications; and (4) net-shape forming, a component manufacturing technique used for ballistic protection and other aerospace and military
applications. Raymor holds the exclusive rights to more than 20 patents throughout the world, with other patents pending.
