Purdue University Launches New Cancer Research Center
Abstract:
This is one of four planned centers in Purdue's Discovery Park, which will receive a combined $10 million over the next three years from Lilly Endowment to advance research.
"Nanotechnology is already one of the most promising area of research and development of the 21st century," he said. "Its integration with biotechnology and focusing of our collective energies on the problem of cancer is almost sure to bring about new ways to diagnose and treat the disease. Nanodevices for the early detection, diagnosis and treatment of cancer are very promising candidates to help eliminate cancer by the year 2015." Rashid Bashir, a professor in the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering and the Weldon School of Biomedical Engineering.
