U.S. leads in nanotech investment
Abstract:
Governments in the United States poured $4.6 billion into nanotechnology research in 2004, far more than Japan, which put in $1.6 billion, according to Lux Research, which studies the industry.
The United States' private sector is also leading in the field. Of the $3.8 billion invested by private-sector groups worldwide, $1.7 billion came from U.S.-based companies, Lux said. A greater percentage than normal of the nano patents being issued by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office are going to U.S. companies, too.
