How will we live in the years to come? Paul Wilkinson and his family turn guinea pigs for the weekend in a prototype, 21st-century hub of maximum comfort and efficiency.
In the roof, huge, remotely controlled Velux windows fill the entrance atrium with light that reaches ground level via a glass floor on the first landing. These are no ordinary windows. They are self-cleaning 'Activ' models, Pilkington's latest creation, which use nanotechnology to break down dust into tiny fragments for rain to wash away.
