Genetic sequencing and blood analysis could transform medicine
Abstract:
In as little as 10 years, Leroy Hood, a leading expert on the human genome, predicts that everyone in the United States could have his or her DNA mapped, leading to an array of business opportunities for biotechnology and data companies. Speaking to the Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association's annual investment conference in Seattle on Monday, Hood talked about a revolutionary shift of using detailed blood analysis and a person's genetic sequencing to move medical diagnosis from the reactive to the predictive.
