Clusters of promise
Abstract:
The Silicon Forest is not one massive tech sector, but a collection of different subsectors. And, just as the organic ecosystem that has become our local metaphor contains some plants that grow faster than others, some of our local tech clusters seem to hold more promise of near-term growth than others.
Information technology focused on health care needs is another hot sector; open source technology has received a recent boost; and nanotechnology enjoys strong backing from large local companies.
