Mighty morphin' MEMS

Abstract:
Is the term MEMS foundry an oxymoron? Although several companies continue to try to make a viable business out of manufacturing microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) for others, few have succeeded. That's because MEMS, by their very nature, are specialized parts used in everything from printer heads to medical devices whereas foundries, by definition, produce high volumes of standard parts.
