Pitt goes big into nanotech research
Abstract:
The odd-shaped piece of black plastic in Chuck Kahle's hand looks even odder when he moves it. As the viewing angle changes, so does the color of its shimmery coating -- going from red to green to red again.
The clear coating contains particles too small to see but not too small to diffract light, said Kahle, director of coatings and resins research and development for PPG Industries. It's an example of nanotechnology and it likely is going to make a lot of money for PPG, he added.
