The Role of Dendrimers in Nanotechnology
Abstract:
Scientists are just beginning to unravel the potential of dendrimer nanotechnology.
What are dendrimers? They are the first large, man-made molecules that are well-defined and three-dimensional in shape. Other man-made molecules, such as those found in plastic garbage bags and Styrofoam cups, are long, spaghetti-like strands that grow in only two directions. Dendrimer molecules have a hollow core with “sticky” points on the outside to which various chemical units can be attached.
