A chemical giant in Germany builds a catalyst for growth
Abstract:
Bernhard Schleich of Germany’s specialty chemicals giant Degussa knows the value of collaboration between academia and industry when it comes to developing high-tech products. He also knows that what looks good on paper often does not work that well in practice. “I’ve worked with virtual networks, for example, several universities, an industrial partner and ourselves, scattered all over Europe,” he said. “You’ll meet every three months or so and things don’t move. It’s just a fact.”
