Abstract:
A family of tools for seeing and manipulating atoms and molecules is moving out of the lab and onto the factory floor.
Scientists and engineers today are using AFMs to view just about everything they can lay their hands on—biological cells, chemical catalysts, computer chips, even sunscreen agents and textiles. All that is driving a potentially huge new industry.
