Searle site in state's budget
Abstract:
Cleveland-based Forest City has plans to turn the complex into a $150 million center for companies specializing in rapidly growing fields, such as nanotechnology and biotechnology.
"Although we have a high number of nanotech papers published in Illinois, we've been relatively unsuccessful in getting commercial applications of it, in terms of job spinoff," said Jon DeVries, an expert in economic development and director of Roosevelt University's real estate school.
