Abstract:
The size-dependence of the physical properties of nanoparticles holds one of the keys to their technological potential. For semiconducting particles, for example, the colour of fluorescent light emission can be continuously tuned by altering their size. But does size matter to the chemical properties of nanoparticles too?
Yes and no, say researchers in Germany and Switzerland.
