Futuristic discovery imitates nature

Abstract:
Self-cleaning glass along with reduced friction in microelectronics are visible in the near future after a new slick, water-repellent surface was created and patented by Ohio State engineer Bharat Bhushan.

Bhushan believes the new technology has the potential to be applied to any surface. The design uses minuscule bumps which model the texture of a lotus leaf's water repellent surface.
