Alzheimer's cure quest

Abstract:
Research led by Northwestern University's Institute of Nanotechnology lays the groundwork for eventually providing an early detection for Alzheimer's disease. The scientists found they could detect a substance associated with Alzheimer's in the cerebrospinal fluid of patients. The technique is called a bio-barcode assay, a process that uses nanoparticles to detect DNA molecules, almost like reading a label on a bag of chips at a grocery check-out.
