Making a racket

Abstract:
In 2001, Babolat became the first tennis- racket company to introduce the use of nanotechnology in its VS Nanotube rackets. By using re-engineered carbon atoms and molecules, Babolat was able to produce extremely lightweight yet powerful rackets.

"We wanted to develop a line of rackets for club players," Pinsard said. "What was interesting for us was a possibility for us to have graphite that could be very light and very stiff. Stiffness equals power."
