Mike Honda (D-San José) and State Controller Steve Westly (D), co-Chairs of the newly created Blue Ribbon Task Force on Nanotechnology, to announce members of the joint federal-state Task Force. Members will help secure the benefits of nanotechnology for the Bay Area and Silicon Valley and promote California as the national and worldwide center for nanotechnology research, development, and commercialization. Background: As co-Chairs of the Blue Ribbon Task Force on Nanotechnology, U.S. Rep. Honda and State Controller Westly worked with NASA Ames Research Center to select applicants from a range of California nanotechnology experts with backgrounds in industry, academia, government, medical research, and venture capital. BRTFN members will document the Task Force’s work in a series of white papers that analyze the direction and state of nanotechnology, followed by specific recommendations aimed at promoting Silicon Valley and California as the national and worldwide center of nanotechnology research, development, and commercialization.
