Rice professor blends research into business
Abstract:
R. Bruce Weisman has joined the ranks of Rice University professors bitten by the entrepreneurial bug.
The chemistry department teacher recently added a pair of new titles to his business card as founder and president of Applied NanoFluorescence LLC.
Owning and operating a company that develops analytical instruments for specialized segments of the nanotechnology industry was the furthest thing from Weisman's mind as little as a year ago. But a request from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration convinced the professor that the time might be ripe to commercialize his research work in the Rice labs.
