Cornell researcher works to cut the waste out of medicine making
Abstract:
When people open their medicine cabinets and take out a small bottle of pills, Cornell University chemist Tyler McQuade doubts they consider the pollution involved.
But for every pound of medicine produced, the pharmaceutical industry typically creates 25 pounds of waste, much of it from toxic solvents. That's the most waste per pound of any industry, McQuade said.
