Solaris Nanosciences Announces Creation of World-Class Science Advisory Board

Providence, RI – November 02, 2004

Solaris Nanosciences Corporation, Rhode Island's first nanotechnology company, today announced the creation of the company's Scientific Advisory Board (SAB). This team, which will advise Solaris scientists and management, includes world renowned experts from prestigious institutions around the globe. The SAB will help guide the development of Solaris's nano-antenna materials for enhancing commercially important light-absorbing applications.

The Solaris Science Advisory Board includes: Professor Naomi Halas of Rice University, a pioneer in the field of tunable nano-structures; Professor Vladimir Shalaev of Purdue University, one of the world's experts on nano-antenna physics; Professor Pieter Kik of the University of Central Florida, an expert in nano-particle arrays; Professors Bill Wooten and Gregory Crawford, both of Brown University, are leaders in visual perception and displays, respectively. The SAB is chaired by Professor Joseph Calo, also of Brown University, an expert in reactor design and the chemistry of carbon.

"We are honored to have this stellar group of leading scientists as members of the Solaris team," said Solaris' Chief Executive Officer Dr. Nabil M. Lawandy. "Through their technical expertise and assistance in the development of our products, the SAB we have assembled gives Solaris an important marketplace advantage as we continue on our path towards providing high-value nano-materials for the solar energy, display, and vision markets."

SOLARIS NANOSCIENCES CORPORATION

Solaris is pursuing the application of its scalable, consumable nanoantenna platform to provide unique benefits to several large industry sectors. Solaris Nanosciences is applying its nanotechnology patent portfolio to become a leading manufacturer and licensor of nano-materials and the supporting technology.

The company is pursuing three major applications of its nanoantenna platform technology: advanced materials for photovoltaics, additives for liquid crystal displays and nanostructures for improving vision for medical and military applications.
