Molecular point of view reinventing electronics
Abstract:
Thirty years ago, chemistry professor Mark Ratner and his student, Ari Aviram, proposed in an obscure scientific journal that molecules could act like wires and switches in electrical circuits - a revolutionary idea.
"Nobody read it, and it just laid there for years," said Ratner, now Morrison Professor of Chemistry at Northwestern University.
