A tiny critter's day in the sun
Abstract:
In today's issue of the journal Science, an international team of 45 researchers describes the entire DNA sequence of a tiny diatom representative known as Thalassiosira pseudonana.
Because each of the estimated 100,000 species constructs its own uniquely patterned box, deciphering the construction process could open new doors for scientists hoping to build silica-based nanostructures.
