Abstract:
Nanotechnology's potential risks and rewards need to be better understood by the public worldwide. There's an important niche here for Canada.
In the quiet of the lab, scientists are working diligently on nanotechnologies that could lead to cheap and fast medical diagnoses, computers based upon molecules, clean energy and environmental remediation. The excitement and promise of new nanoscale revolutionary materials has led to increased funding in the area but also to overblown and inaccurate hype over nanotechnology's potential harm to society.
