2004 Emerging Technology Venture Conference (ETVC) 2004 announces the twelve emerging technologies companies that have been selected to present their technologies and/or projects during the “Elevator Pitch Session” at the conference on September 14 – 15 at the Mount Royal Center in Montreal.

2004 Emerging Technology Venture Conference (ETVC) 2004 announces the twelve emerging technologies companies that have been selected to present their technologies and/or projects during the “Elevator Pitch Session” at the conference on September 14 – 15 at the Mount Royal Center in Montreal. ETVC 2004 is Canada’s first international conference to showcase Quebec and Ontario’s best technologies, projects and companies in Infotech, Nanotech and Robotics to angel investors and venture capital firms from North America and Europe. The companies were selected from over 40 applications by the ETVC Selection Committee comprised of technology advisors and experts from the nanotechnology, IT, semiconductor and venture capital sectors.

The 12 companies selected are:

Cerestech (Montreal) – A spin-off École Polytechnique de Montreal set to commercialize its breakthrough in applied polymer science.
D-Wave System (Vancouver) – Developing operational chip-based quantum computers.
Global Ionix (Longueuil) - Poised to become a major manufacturer of equipment in the field of electrochemistry such a metal extraction, advanced coating systems and oxidation of chemical compounds.
Group IV Semiconductor (Ottawa) - Developing innovative semiconductor technology for the allumination industry.
Metafoam (Longueuil) - Produces, develops and commercializes metal foams, which are a new category of high performance materials in the metal powder and new material industry.
Nanometrix (Montreal) - Has developed a breakthrough patent-pending system to make ultra-thin structured and oriented films (« Films ») ranging from 1 nanometer to over 300 microns thickness.
Optosecurity (Quebec) - Building security products based on Optical Computing (OC) - specializes in real-time complex image identification, spinning-off a breakthrough technology from INO.
Reflex Photonics (Montreal) - Developing ultra fast, parallel photonic interconnectivity solutions for very short range and ultra short range data communications applications.
Sixtron (Sherbrooke) – Developing processes to deposit thin films of semiconductors materials on various substrates. Sixtron’s patent pending Polymer Source-Chemical Vapor Deposition and semiconductor material have numerous implications and benefits for the electronics devices and applications industry.
Silk Displays (Montreal) - Developing smart plastic materials and solid state structures of plastic films to provide high value LCD solutions at a lower cost than existing technologies.
NanoDCAL (Montreal) - A project based on technology developed by McGill Nanoelectronics Lab, NanoDCAL is a first-in-class nano-scale molecular modeling technology.
Thermal Plasma Synthesis (Montreal) - A project from the Department of Chemical Engineering of McGill University providing a new technique for the synthesis of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with a possibility of scale up to large industrial levels.
