Tiny bumps may mean big strides
Abstract:
... researchers at the University of Alberta and the National Institute of Nanotechnology have made a discovery that could make it less likely that patients will have to suffer through the second round of hip-replacement surgery. His idea is to coat the titanium used in implants with a layer of surface bumps that look very similar to what you see when you look at bone under the microscope. "Nature has already done nanotechnology," he says.
