Military nanotechnology continues its march
Abstract:
Nanotechnology companies are changing the U.S. military, supplying products such as advanced ceramics to protect aircraft carriers and microscopic sensors to detect biological weapons, experts told United Press International. Because nanomaterials have far more surface area for storage or chemical reactions, chemists can take inert materials such as platinum and make them explosive, or turn other substances into super-catalysts. Electrical and thermal properties can improve dramatically.
