Brussels battles 'grey goo' fears
Abstract:
The European Commission is hoping to give cutting edge science a boost - and avoid the pitfalls of past experience. A proposal adopted in Brussels on Wednesday aims to shore up research and funding for ‘nanotechnology’, a science that, though still in its infancy, has polarised opinions across the world. A commission spokesman on Wednesday said the commission “doesn’t want the issue to be hijacked in the same way GMOs were”.
